Throwback Thursday – A wedding to remember…

Throwback Thursdays are a chance to remember where I’ve been, memories shared and fantastic clients who have supported STUDIO dpi photography along the way. I hope you’ll leave a comment and share a great memory you have that may have come to the surface after checking out my blog. :-) Happy Thursday!

Dec. 6th, 2003 – Shooting a wedding is a lot of work but shooting your Dad’s wedding is that much more stressful! I haven’t shot a wedding in over a year now and I’m happy to leave that task to those that love to shoot weddings (if you’re looking for a wedding photographer I’m happy to refer to you to some great photographers! Just ask). Of course this wedding being my Dad’s, I wasn’t going to say no. Dad and Tina (Mama T) celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary just 2 days ago. Here’s a little walk down memory lane. A small wedding, family and friends stood shoulder to shoulder to share in this moment. It was perfect!

Jamie took this one for us :-)

Throwback Thursday – Maternity Photographer

Every few months my girlfriend Margie and I get together to talk photography. She’s an amazing wedding photographer based in Guelph and the one who shot the head shot you’ll find on my about page. We met while taking photography at Sheridan and became fast friends in our second year since we where in all the same classes. Whenever we get together we’re always talking about new products, pricing, shooting, posing, websites, online marketing and the list goes on.

So Throwback Thursday is Margie’s creative goodness. I love this idea. I have so many sessions from years ago I’d love to share with you and this is the perfect category for those sessions. But I think I’ll also mix things up with some personal throwbacks to family events, memories and maybe even pull out some of those old photography assignments from Sheridan?! Stay tuned to see! :-)

So in the first of many Thursdays to come here’s a shot from November 2004! The early days of STUDIO dpi when I was living in a basement apartment with my boyfriend Jamie (now husband) and my studio consisted of a curtain rod, two flat king sized black sheets and some lighting equipment. Backdrops are expensive but if you put a little creativity into your set up you can come up with unique ways to have a studio without breaking the bank in those early days.
